On 9th April, after five months of construction, the two new classrooms and one playground, totalling 328m² at the Phụng Sơn A satellite site of Tân Long 2 Primary School (Phụng Hiệp District) were completed. The project is part of the saigonchildren’s School Building and Learning Environments Programme, and received support from Vietcombank Securities – VCBS, HP Vietnam, other sponsors, and reciprocating funds from the local government.
Tân Long 2 Primary School has one leading site and three satellite sites, Phụng Sơn A being one of them. This site has five classrooms built in the 1990s with uncomplicated infrastructure and materials. Over time, these rooms have deteriorated noticeably, evidenced by leaking metal roofs, sinking walls, and columns. Furthermore, located next to a small canal branch, the schoolyard frequently experiences flooding during high tides and the rainy season.

Given the current situation, these classrooms have become unsafe for students. Before the project implementation, the school had to requisite the function rooms to replace the poor-state classrooms. With the construction of 2 new classrooms, the function rooms are turned to their initial purpose. Additionally, the project includes rebuilding and repainting the school fences and supplying essential educational equipment such as televisions, printers, and bookshelves for each new room. This will enable approximately 121 students per year in the coming years to learn and enjoy the safe and quality learning environment they deserve.
Like every school building project of saigonchildren, the classrooms’ design and construction follow the Ministry of Education and Training standards. Saigonchildren will also establish a people’s supervision committee including parents, teachers, and locals to coordinate in supervising the construction, as well as preserving and maintaining the facilities in the future.
